A Quality Curriculum

Oak Room (0 - 9 MONTHS)
The 0 - 9 months room holds 9 babies, each have their own
cot and storage facilities for their clothes etc.
They are stimulated with mobiles, colourful toys, rattles
and blocks etc. and creative activities are gently introduced
at about six months old. Individual development plans are
used in this room to monitor eachchild's progress.
Ash Room (9 - 18 MONTHS)
In this room the emphasis is on social development and physical
skills. Feeding skills and walking are established in the
first two years of a child's life. These skills are encouraged
by the aid of push and pull toys, and learning to share games
stories and music etc. Most children will leave this room
capable of standing or walking and sitting socially at a table
to eat and able to feed themselves.

Elm Room (18 MONTHS - 2 YEARS)
Children in this room are introduced to potty/toilet training
in conjunction with the wishes of the parents as well as being
taught bathroom hygiene.
They are encouraged to share and develop their hand-eye co-ordination
with the aid of first jigsaws and easy board games. They begin
to learn their colours, to count and to enjoy stories and
nursery rhymes and play musical instruments, thus fostering
a love of books and aiding language development and listening
skills.
They also link in with the Early Years curriculum for other
activities.
Beech and Maple Rooms (2 - 3 YEARS)
There are two rooms for the 2 - 3 year old children. These
rooms are bright and colourful and here children are introduced
to more detailed activities they learn to play with each other
and to share their toys. Potty training is continued and most
children leave these rooms fully competent to attend to their
own needs. As with the older children this age group follow
the Foundation Stage but on a more basic level, they are taught
about life through the themes and their development is monitored
using development charts.
Pine and Chestnut Rooms (3 - 5 YEARS)
Gingerbread Cottage is Ofsted registered and approved. The
preschool children are taught in themes appropriate to the
early learning goals set out in the foundation stage required
by Ofsted. High priority is given to Language, mathematics
and social development, as well as creative and scientific
activities.
Each child is treated as an individual and is assessed as
to his/her own capabilities and encouraged to develop at their
own pace to reach their true potential. They are introduced
to the world of Information Technology and quickly become
skilled at finding there way around the computer.
SPECIALIST TEACHING
Gingerbread Cottage provides the foundation stage children
with Spanish Lessons and Music Lessons.
OUTDOOR FACILITIES
There are two large grassed areas a large hard play area where
the children can develop their large motor skill and enjoy
a range of climbing and balancing equipment and also learn
to compete and interact by joining in organised games
CHILDREN'S GARDEN
The children at Gingerbread have their very own garden patch
where they grow their own flowers and vegetables and learn
to appreciate living things.
